Brigid joined the firm in 1986 having graduated with Honours in Law from Queen's University, Belfast. Initially Brigid specialised in litigation (acting for BT and private clients) and Personal Insolvency. Brigid qualified as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 1994 and is currently one of only 8 lawyers with an Insolvency Licence in Northern Ireland. Brigid is regarded as a leader in the field of Personal Insolvency and is described in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as "the doyenne of Personal Insolvency in Northern Ireland". Brigid currently advises on all aspects of Personal and Corporate Insolvency and is regularly appointed Trustee in Bankruptcy and Liquidator by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (Insolvency Service). She also acts as Liquidator in Members' Voluntary Liquidations and Creditors' Voluntary Liquidations and as a Fixed Charge Receiver.

In her capacity as Insolvency Practitioner she advises in relation to alternatives to Bankruptcy and Liquidation and acts as Nominee and Supervisor for Individual Voluntary Arrangements and Company Voluntary Arrangements. Brigid regularly provides advice and reassurance to clients facing Personal and Corporate Insolvency and receives many referrals from other professionals. She also advises on Directors' responsibilities, Directors' Disqualifications and Directors' personal liability.

Brigid often lectures on Insolvency, including the Insolvency Course at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies, Belfast Solicitors' Association, the Family Bar Association, Northern Ireland Young Solicitors' Association and provides in-house lectures and advice to Accountants and Estate Agents.

Brigid oversees the Debt Recovery Department in Napier & Sons and continues to practice Commercial Litigation.

She is currently a member of the Remuneration Committee in the Law Society for Northern Ireland and is a Notary Public, having been appointed in 1998.
